Paramedics
The Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) at Normah Medical Specialist Centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Medical Officers and paramedic staffs have been trained with ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) in accordance to the American Heart Association guidelines. We also have paramedics who have received post basic training in emergency medicine.
- Emergency Care
We provide 24 hours ambulance service. All our ambulances are well-equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment. Our emergency contact number is 082-311 999 for Emergency Medical Service.
- We have Cardiologist on-call 24 hours a day for cardiac emergencies. Patients who are presented with heart attack will receive PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) / Angiogram within 90 minutes from arrival at our Cardiovascular Laboratory. This is in accordance to the international service recommendation standard.
- Stroke patients received at our Accident & Emergency department will be given a head CT scan immediately before further management.
- Our Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory services is open 24 hours for various investigations.
We also provide medical escort services, emergency evacuation (medivac), and both domestic and international repatriation escort services by helicopter or fixed wing aircraft.
- Non-Emergency Care
Patients can also walk-in to our Accident & Emergency department anytime if presented with any medical complaints. Our Medical Officer will be on duty to provide consultation and treatment. Depending on your clinical condition, you may receive an initial treatment or you may be advised for further treatment with our specialist doctors.
At Normah Medical Specialist Centre, we comply with the international medical triage system.
- Quality Improvement
We continuously monitoring patient’s care and safety for the purpose of improving our services through root cause analysis, intervention and resolution of the problem.
- Adult patient with chest pain will received ECG within 10 minutes.
Target: 100 % - A&E Department waiting time relative to triage category.
Green Zone: 100% within 90 minutes
Yellow Zone: 100% within 30 minutes
Red Zone: 100% immediately - Unplanned return of patient seen at A&E within 24 hours for similar complaint.
Target: Less than 1% - Adult patient with Acute Asthma being discharged after achieving PEFR of more than 75% of the predicted normal value
Target: 100%
- Adult patient with chest pain will received ECG within 10 minutes.
- Satellite Pharmacy
Our A&E has an attached 24 hours satellite pharmacy that dispense medication.
- Payment
We accept cash, online tele-transfer, SarawakPay, or debit/credit card for payment. We are panel to most local and international insurance companies. Please inform our cashier should you need assistance to contact your insurance provider.
